Random quote of the day...
Jill Langill is a writer, editor, musician, and pen collector who makes up unflattering names and assigns embarrassing characteristics to people she sees on the street. She has a kind husband who tolerates this habit. Jill frequently refers to herself as "Jillangill" for general ease of use and the kick she gets out of having a name that's an auditory palindrome.
Jill loves children's literature and reads everything by Lois Lowry, Katherine Paterson, and Richard Peck that she possibly can. She enjoys writing about how adolescents have their own fears, insights, and ways of dealing with life's most wrenching traumas. She is currently working on a novel about 15-year-old Ethan, whose main worry in life is being too tall. That is, until his family moves across the country to care for his grandmother, who suffers from Alzheimer's.
Jill's greatest hope is that the manuscript she is currently shopping - Sweet Tea for Frankenstein - will find its home in hospital gift shops, churches, counseling centers, and clutched in the hands of children who thought nobody understood.
Though largely fictionalized, this story was inspired by her own experience as the sibling of a child with a brain tumor. Jill has worked in the editorial field for more than four years, currently managing an editorial/graphics division for a global educational testing company. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators (SCBWI).
