Jillangill is Alive!
Hello, world! It’s me! My apologies for the long delay between posts–it’s been a rather insane month.
Here are some highlights:
~Found renters for our place and moved to a cute apartment in San Dimas! I’m thrilled to be closer to friends, work opportunities, and civilization in general.
~Obtained two more part-time jobs for a grand total of three…which for now seem to be working in perfect-ish harmony. My regular weekday job involves supervising recess and lunch at a private school where my friend Rebecca teaches. I was so worried I wouldn’t be able to handle disciplining kids or that they’d hate me, but everything’s going well so far and the other teachers are ridiculously nice.
My semi-regular gig with the dental implantologist’s website keeps me pretty busy too, and recently I also got hired with photopros.com. I’ve been to two shoots so far; one dealing with pet photography and the other a commercial shoot for SCAN health plan. I stepped in as a model for like 15 minutes on that one and they’re saying they’ll pay me $250 bucks for it. Hot dog! I’ll take it!
~Last weekend Jeremy and I ran our first 5k! We ran it at Disneyland along with a few friends, some of whom were there to amazingly run the half-marathon (13 miles!!!). Our buddy Ben actually ran both back-to-back! It was a great and relaxing weekend and we got to spend Saturday in the park. I never get sick of Disneyland.
Here are some lowlights:
~Our renter situation revealed itself to be quite tenuous pretty early on, like 2 weeks in. We’re hoping for the best while trying to make good decisions. After all, we’ve still gotta pay that pesky mortgage!
~We’re still looking for a home for Lola, our 3-year-old gray tabby. It’s a pretty full house and she’d really be happier in a household without other cats. Makes for a bit of a miserable situation here at times, until we can find a place for her. I feel like we’ve pretty much exhausted all our options, and that’s never a good feeling.
In other news, I’m really looking forward to next Tuesday night, which is when my pottery class in Sierra Madre starts! If you don’t want something made of pottery for Christmas, you’d probably better speak up now.
Overall, I’m feeling very good. I’m keeping busy and I feel like my life has a great balance of working, relaxation, time with friends, and time for my creative hobbies. I feel very blessed, even though in some ways my life situation is the most difficult now than it has ever been. Isn’t that weird?
Also, just so you know I’ve been artistically busy as well, here are a few of my favorite shots from this month!

Yipeeee. That’s great news! And awesome photos! Looks like you can sell that one with the boaty-things to that company… or something.
